2025 GRAL Champs Meet Recap
We wrapped up our season on a high note this weekend! The Stingrays finished 17th out of 28 teams on Sunday afternoon, totaling 314.5 points — over a 12% increase from last year.
GRAL announced its annual awards on Sunday morning, and I am proud to share that our team has won the 2025 Len Everett Sportsmanship Award for Division III. This marks the fourth year in a row our team has earned this award — a testament to the collective effort of our swimmers, parents, and volunteers. Award or not, I’m incredibly proud of the positive, healthy culture our team embraced this season, and I hope it continues to thrive for years to come. Our team was also recognized on Saturday for finishing first place in total Advanced points, and second place in total Novice, Varsity, and Advanced Relay points across Division III throughout the regular season.
It was a record-smashing weekend for the Stingrays, with yards team records falling left and right at Champs! Harper Grace Johnson set the tone on Saturday, tearing through her own records in the Girls 11–12 100 IM, 50 Breaststroke, and 100 Freestyle. On Sunday, the dynamic 13-year-old duo of Carter Rettig and Nate Doran took center stage—Carter blazed to a new mark in the 13–14 50 Freestyle before taking down a legendary 31-year-old team record in the 50 Butterfly, while Nate crushed his own records from earlier this summer in the 50 Backstroke and 100 Freestyle. The meet ended in the best way possible, as the 13–14 mixed freestyle relay of Carter Rettig, Maren Minor, Diego Salinas, and Nate Doran rocketed to a new team record of 1:49.98—taking down the mark set by Stingray teammates earlier this season and putting an exclamation point on an unforgettable weekend of fast swimming!
